Cloud Atlas - Pietaby ~bluestraggler

Sonmi-451 and Hae-Joo Chang from Cloud Atlas blatantly inspired by Michelangelo’s Pieta cuz it’s one of my favorite classical sculptures ever ever and this for some reason came immediately to mind in the form of drawfeels

SORRY FOR SPOILERY?? I hope it isn’t? the image is largely symbolic, as in this doesn’t happen in the movie at all (Sonmi’s dress is short not long, also Hae-Joo’s bare-chested for only like 5 minutes in the whole movie so it hardly counts) so I stand by that this isn’t actually a spoiler so I hope nobody minds ahhhh

their roles might seem reversed from what one might expect in this context, but I felt that Sonmi giving her speech when the rebel war started was also her way of reaching out to Hae-Joo and giving him solace while he was fighting below. Also it is said that Michelangelo’s Mary embodies “incorruptible purity” so I thought it was fitting.

I reaaally like how you managed to blend a Cloud Atlas fanart with a classical art piece. However, I think this fanart could be more epic if you try to use a more dramatic shading (just like the one from Michelangelo's Pieta). It could look even better if you use a dark grey background, so Somni-451's clothing would contrast a lot... Anyway, it looks fantastic
